U16 Alpine

U16 Alpine

14 and 15-year-olds

Program Overview

The U16 program is designed for athletes who have successfully progressed from the U14 team and are committed to advancing in competitive Alpine Ski Racing. Focused solely on Far West races, this program emphasizes skill refinement acquired in the U14 level, aiming to prepare athletes for competitions at the Western Region and National levels. The training regimen involves gate training, skill drills, and guided free skiing, concentrating on elevating athletes' racing abilities for higher-level competitions.

Maintaining a U.S. Ski and Snowboard membership under the U16 category is mandatory for all athletes in this program.

Program Schedule

The U16 program operates from late November to late April, offering sessions five days a week, including Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM, as well as Saturdays, Sundays, and designated holidays from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Pre-season dryland training is available on select dates from September to November.

For detailed information regarding dates and pricing, please refer to the registration page.

Required Equipment

Families are required to provide specific equipment for the program, including Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super G skis, ideally having both racing and training skis available. Properly fitting race boots ranging from 90 to 120 flex, GS and SL poles with pole guards, a hard-ear helmet featuring an FIS sticker, goggles with multiple lenses, waterproof gloves, shin guards for SL, and a back protector as a recommended safety measure are necessary. Additionally, athletes are advised to have a Speed Suit with an FIS patch, along with a ski backpack and water bottle for training sessions.

The Diamond Peak Ski Team offers team jackets available through a seasonal lease or purchase program. It's advised that athletes and families consult with coaches regarding equipment to ensure proper sizing before purchasing, and all gear must be approved by coaches prior to on-snow training sessions.
