U14 Team - Far West Racing and Tahoe Race Series

For 12 & 13 years old by December 31, 2020
 

Overview

This program has been designed to encourage athletes to continue to develop skills and continue to compete competitively or recreationally. Strengthening the skills and techniques of ski racing and freeskiing in varied terrain and conditions as well as gate training will be offered daily.  

Athletes in U14 are invited to enroll in DPSEF con-snow camps in fall and spring at locations such as Mammoth and Mt. Hood for further skill development. 

Athletes moving into U14 are encouraged to fully participate in FarWest competitions. Tahoe Race Series has a U14 category and is offered to athletes if interested.

All athletes interested in racing must register and maintain a US Ski and Snowboard membership for the season. (Not included with DPSEF registration)
Schedule

2-Day (Weekends and Holidays)

Full-Time 5-Day (Wednesday - Sunday) 

December 10 – April 12 

Wednesday – Friday: 1-4PM / Saturday & Sunday: 9AM-3PM 

We ski during school breaks, including Holiday Break and New Year’s, MLK and President’s weekend and February Break. During these periods, schedules are often adjusted to "early load" 7:30AM – 1:00PM.

Equipment Required

Skis, helmets, poles, protective gear, hard ear helmet, boots, proper winter clothing. Athletes should have at least one pair of SL skis and one pair of GS skis that are within current USSA specifications for competition. Must have a FIS approved helmet, shin guards, pole guards, SL face bar. Optional to have a speed suit and extra pairs of skis.

Drills and Gates / Freeskiing / Learning Center & Dryland Training. 

Events

USSA Races occur 5-6 weekends per season, hosted team race volunteering opportunities, team celebrations.
