Far West J123 2007/08
November 17th, 2006 by adminJ123 athletes will train in elite level race courses and participate in the highest levels of Divisional competitions. While qualifying for regional and national events, the athletes will rely on all of their skiing experience and compete at their maximum potential. These leaders of DPSEF will also be great mentors to the youth of the DPSEF.
AGES:
J1 17, 18 & 19 Years old on January 1st
J2 15 & 16 Years old on January 1st
J3 13 & 14 Years old on January 1st
DATES: Fall dryland training starts October 15th. On snow training starts at the first skiable snow and continues through the April Championships
TIME: Tuesday through Sunday
1:30pm till 4:30pm on school days, 9:00am till 3:00pm weekends and holidays
A special Xmas and Presidents Week schedule TBA
(Times subject to change for many reasons, updated schedule will be communicated by coaches and on hotline 833-Lift.)
EQUIPMENT NEEDS FOR J-1&2’s:
- Properly fitted boots for ultimate comfort and performance
- A selection of event specific skis, poles, helmets, face guards (Check with coaches)
- Ski tuning tools (Check with coaches)
- USSA and Far West memberships
- FIS membership if needed (check with Head Coach)
- Good relationship with parents, teachers, and self
- Training journal
PLANS FOR THE YEAR:
- Preseason physical training, testing and education
- Special early morning speed training
- Intense free and closed environment skill training
- Full length course training
- Video analysis and timed training runs
- Quarterly evaluations (year round)
ACTIVITIES:
- USSA Far West J123 Jr. Olympic Qualifying races
- Entry Level and Elite Level FIS races
- High School racing
- Weekend Pre and Post Season Camps
- Mentorship training with younger teammates
FUTURE FOR THESE ATHLETES:
- National/Regional camps
- Divisional/Regional/National teams
- Collegiate racing
- Coaching internship with DPSEF
