The TLRS opening race originally scheduled for Sugarbowl the weekend of Jan. 5 & 6 has been postponed to the following weekend, Jan. 12 & 13, due to forecasted inclement weather. And we are all hoping that nobody at the NWS has cried “wolf” again! Nothing has to be done regarding registration, other than showing up for the race on the right day.

The opening race of the Far West J4/5 season, which was originally scheduled for Northstar, had been moved to Boreal for unknown reasons (see the Far West website, www.fwskiing.org, for more details), and now back to Northstar (again for unknown reasons). Make sure that a Northstar liability release has been completed and delivered to Josee. All releases are available for download from this website under the “Downloads” tab. Arrive at Northstar early!! It’s a long way from the Parking Lot to the race course!!

Our Plans for the 6th annual “Mountain High” Mardi Gras Gala are underway! This festive and colorful dinner/auction community event is our biggest fund-raiser of the season and last year’s Gala set the stage for a successful and fabulous evening. The 2008 Gala will take place on February 2nd from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center (Parasol Building) in Incline Village. Invitations are on the way this week! The Money that we raise at this event will be applied to our annual operating budget. Our fundraising events are extremely important as the tuition collected every year covers only half of our annual expenses. Therefore, it is our team goal to raise sixty thousand dollars at this event. Read the rest of this entry »
