			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Diamond Peak Ski Team is  proud to announce the<strong><em> 7</em>th Annual Diamond Cup Challenge </strong>community  fun race on Saturday, March 20th. All proceeds from this popular, annual  spring event benefit the Diamond Peak Ski  Team youth racing and freeride programs. Race categories include:  Individuals (age/sex groups), Family, Husband/Wife, Father/Son, Father/Daughter,  Mother/Son, Mother/Daughter, Corporate Teams (of four), and Snowboard  Individuals. Kids of any age, regardless of experience, and grandparents are  also invited. Awards will be given to the top three competitors in each race/age  category.</p>
<p>The entry fee is $20 per racer  if registration is received by Thursday, March 18<sup>th</sup>.  Entry fee goes  to $25  after 3/18. and on day of the race.  The entry includes two  runs on the “friendly” course.  A BBQ luncheon and the Awards  Ceremony held after the race. Luncheon tickets for non-racers are  also available for $10.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Registration will be from </strong><strong>8:30</strong><strong> to </strong><strong>9:30  a.m.</strong><strong> at the </strong><strong>Diamond</strong><strong> </strong><strong>Peak</strong><strong> Lodge. </strong>Younger racers (Under 8), will begin at 9:30.   Parents wishing to race with their young racers will race during this  time as well.  The main race will begin at  10:30 a.m.  The course is a dual giant slalom format  on Lower Show-Off at Diamond Peak.</p>
<p>Each competitor must have a  lift ticket or Diamond Peak season pass to participate. Discounted tickets are  available on race day, with a portion of these ticket proceeds being donated to  Diamond Peak Ski Team by the ski area.</p>
<p>Competition registration forms  are available at the Diamond Peak Ski Team Race Shack or you can download entry  and liability forms from this website (see below).  Please return your registration and  liability waiver to Diamond Peak Ski Team Shack, in upper parking lot of Diamond  Peak Lodge.  Diamond Peak Ski Education Foundation prefers checks as method of payment (made out to DPSEF), but will take VISA or Mastercard.  If you prefer to fax your registration and liability, please fax to (775) 832-1256 (please include credit card information on the bottom of your registration form if faxing).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>At <strong>Northstar</strong>, Margarethe Richter held down 2nd place both days and Reinhard Richter had a firm grip on 3rd place both days in the women’s and men’s class 10<br />
Linda Crowell, after a totally dominating performance at the western regionals in Park City earlier in the month, had a quiet weekend with a 5th and 3rd in the women’s strong open seed.<br />
Brian Smith took 2nd both days and Sam Crowell grabbed  a 6th place Sunday, in men’s class 8.<br />
Doug Wisse, an east coast master racer and the house guest of the Richter’s, smoked the men’s class 11 both days.</p>
<p>At <strong>Bear Valley</strong> in the Open League, Steve Bard took a 4th place in the men’s class 4.</p>

Julia competed in the Topolino Shootout Camp in Park City, Jan 21-24. She qualified for this camp from her results in the 2009 J3 Jr. Olympics.</p>
<p><strong>Lila Lapanja</strong>, J2.    <strong>National Development System Women’s Invitational </strong><br />
Lila was invited to the NDS women’s invitational races at Snow King Resort in  Wyoming, Feb. 14-15. There, she competed with USST members and some elete  international racers. Lila commented it was a fun time, she got to observe how well the top racers skied and how they prepared themselves and got into the “zone” before making their runs. A priceless experience for her.</p>
<p><strong>Lauren Keller</strong>, J4.    <strong>Far West J4 Performance Camp</strong><br />
Lauren qualified with her race results this season for the J4 Performance Camp in Mammoth, Feb. 26-27-28. The camp will have three days of SGS, GS and SL, training with timed runs after each days training. The purpose of the camp is to provide additional training and prepare the racers for moving up to the J3’s next season.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It was a great weekend of racing, despite some unfavorable weather.  Everyone involved should be pleased with their efforts. Thanks to the organizers, coaches, all the volunteers and the masters that came out to help, Diamond Peak was able to put on a quality event.<br />
The racers did their bit to show off the Diamond Peak ski team with four wins out of eight races.<br />
These are brief highlights of the good performances put on by all the racers.<br />
Lauren Keller won the J4 SL on Saturday and finished 5th in the J4 GS on Sunday.<br />
Belle Johnson won the J5 GS on Saturday and the J5 SL on Sunday.<br />
Winston Pretti finished 2nd in the J5 GS on Saturday and won the J5 SL on Sunday.<br />
It was an outstanding event by everyone.</p>

In Class six, Garry Gladstone, after two good days of training at Diamond Peak, finished third in both races.<br />
Heinrich Klobuczek started with the tough men’s open seed in the first race and then won the class five in the second race.</p>
<p>Squaw Valley SL’s on Saturday and Sunday, Jan 9 &amp; 10.<br />
Brian topped the class eight on Saturday then had a forgettable Sunday race.<br />
Heinrich placed second in class five both days.<br />
Margarethe won class ten on Sunday and Reinhard was third in the mens class ten.</p>
<p>J3 highlights, Sugarbowl SL’s on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Jan 9, 10 &amp; 11.<br />
Saturday:   Hannah Johnson led all the Diamond Peak Girls with a nice fifth place finish.<br />
Ian Reeves led all the DP boys.<br />
Sunday:   Julia Bjorkman took over and led all the DP girls with a 6th  place, Hannah in at 10.<br />
Gavin Chin led the DP boys in with a solid 14th place.<br />
Monday:   Julia again led the girls with a 5th place finish with Hannah close behind in 6th.<br />
This time Zane Bensing led all the boys in with an 18th place finish.</p>
